The Student Services Department is committed to supporting students who face academic, behavioural, or social-emotional challenges, as well as those who require enrichment or gifted programming. Our mandate is to ensure that every student receives timely, personalized, and purposeful support that nurtures their well-being, promotes their success, and enables them to thrive both in and beyond the classroom.

Pedagogy

At HFS, we believe that every child is unique and capable of greatness. Through our dedicated Student Services team, we provide individualized support that nurtures the mind, heart, and spirit of each learner.
Our robust enrichment programs spark curiosity, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning. By embracing project-based learning, students collaborate, think critically, and solve real-world problems — transforming knowledge into meaningful action.

If your child demonstrates a need for additional support — whether identified at school or at home — our team will work closely with you to develop an Individualized Education Plan (IEP). This collaborative approach ensures that the right accommodations and strategies are in place, allowing your child to feel supported, confident, and empowered throughout their educational journey.
Behavioural Social-Emotional Support
At HFS, we are deeply committed to supporting the social-emotional growth of every student. Our Student Services team works hand-in-hand with students, teachers, parents, and outside professionals to address each child’s unique social-emotional and behavioural needs. Together, we develop personalized strategies that empower our students to manage stress, build social skills, resilience, and foster meaningful relationships.
We pride ourselves in offering a wide variety of social-emotional learning (SEL) programs that help our students flourish. These initiatives teach essential life skills in engaging and creative ways—through activities such as LEGO Club, Lunch Club, and Friendship Clubs—while also incorporating valuable workshops from our local police, promoting safety, empathy, and responsible decision-making.
A central part of our support includes three designated spaces—The Oasis, The Zone, and The Comfort Room— staffed by our dedicated Special Education Technicians. These rooms offer safe, inviting environments where students can build skills, develop coping strategies, and strengthen their emotional well-being.
