Our Story
Rabbi Mordechai Zeitz was a visionary educator and community leader whose influence helped shape Jewish education in Montreal's West Island for generations.
As the founder of the Hebrew Foundation School, he established an institution dedicated to academic excellence, Jewish values, and a strong sense of community at a time when the region's Jewish population was rapidly growing.
Through his leadership, dedication, and unwavering commitment to education, Rabbi Zeitz created a welcoming environment where thousands of students developed a deep connection to their heritage while receiving a high-quality education.
His vision laid the foundation for a school that continues to inspire students, families, and educators, leaving a lasting legacy that has enriched both the Jewish community and the broader West Island of Montreal for decades.
